our story

Our goals

The Magaliesberg Valley Conservancy is a voluntary association of members with a heart for conserving the natural beauty of our area. The Conservancy lies between the Magaliesberg and Witwatersberg mountains, encompasses the Skeerpoort Valley, and extends over parts of De Rust, Broederstroom and Hartbeeshoek.

We raise awareness, promote sustainable practices, support and start conservation projects, and raise funds for these aims. We were first registered with the North West Conservancy Association in 2009, and in December 2025 our registration was updated and our map extended.

Landowners, business owners and legal tenants within the Conservancy area are welcome to join. Not sure if you are in the area? Have a look at our zone map or email us at info@magaliesbergvalley.org.

To work in harmony with those who live and work within the Conservancy borders, as well as those who visit.

To encourage good stewardship of our environment by all who make use of it.

To collaborate in efforts to conserve its natural beauty and biodiversity.

To safeguard this heritage for all who enjoy and benefit from it now, as well as for future generations.

GOOD TO KNOW

Main points

Protecting our water
The valley has no municipal water and relies on boreholes, so we have appealed two gold prospecting applications in Skeerpoort to protect our aquifers, rivers and roads.
