Kevlar Risk
our story
Every camera watched. Every second.
Kevlar Risk engineers, installs and monitors integrated security for the places where it cannot fail: mines, estates, retail, farms and telecoms infrastructure. We have three offices, in Hartbeespoort, Durban and Cape Town, and our security and network operations centre sits in the Hartbeespoort and Brits corridor, within reach of the mining belt where most of our field work happens.
We are not a start-up with a new logo. Our roots go back to UTM Group, founded in 2004 on the premise that loss is predictable, detectable and preventable, which integrated sensors into single platforms years before IoT existed as a category and ran retail risk alongside group forensics at some of the country’s largest retailers. Twenty-two years of pattern recognition, carried into one business.
Five capabilities, one engineered platform. IP CCTV camera estates engineered for the site and watched 24/7 by AI. Access control and biometrics: facial recognition, fingerprint, booms and turnstiles, integrated with surveillance so every credential event is seen in context. Life safety systems: addressable fire detection, PA and voice alarm, and evacuation systems. Radar and perimeter detection that tracks intrusion beyond the fence line, in rain, dust and total darkness. And Reconeyez solar towers for sites with no power and no network: no trenching, no mains, no fibre, verified alarms over cellular.
The control room never closes, because there is no one in it to go off shift: our monitoring is one hundred percent agentic AI. Kevlar Monitoring runs around the clock, every day of the year, built around SARA, our AI operator. No human operators, so no fatigue, no blind spots and no human error. SARA verifies each event within seconds, escalates by telephone with clip and snapshot evidence attached, and delivers a complete, time-stamped incident report to your inbox within five minutes. We price per camera, not per human shift, and we can put AI on the cameras you already own instead of selling you new ones.
Our systems are deployed and monitored at Sibanye-Stillwater, Red Graniti Mine, Kleinfontein Mine, MAN Mining, AECI, Blendcor, the Radisson Blu Umhlanga, Die Oord and 180 Swiftnet tower sites across the country. Our team’s earlier work covered seven large estates, among them Pecanwood and Estate D’Afrique here at the dam, 1,200 Edcon stores, and anti-poaching security in the Hoedspruit and KwaZulu-Natal regions.
Every deployment starts the same way: a free site assessment. We walk the site, map the real risk profile and tell you what you actually need, including where your existing cameras can be reused, and we come back within one business day. No obligation. For monitoring, we will run a 14-day pilot on your real site at no cost and only move to billing if it delivers against KPIs we agree up front. Our specifications are aligned to ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 9001, SANS 10142-1, SANS 10139, POPIA and RICA, and PSIRA. We would rather not take the work than take it badly.

Camera estates engineered for the site, then watched 24/7 by AI with verified escalation. Thermal, AI analytics and offsite monitoring.
Every camera watched every second by AI, with no human operator. Verified events trigger escalating telephone calls with clip and snapshot evidence, and a full incident report within five minutes.
Facial recognition, fingerprint, booms and turnstiles, integrated with surveillance so every credential event is seen in context.
Addressable fire detection, PA and voice alarm, and evacuation systems built to give the earliest accurate warning and the fewest false alarms.
Ground surveillance radar and thermal radar that detect and track intrusion beyond the fence line, in rain, dust and total darkness.
Wireless, solar-powered AI detection where there is no power and no network. No trenching, no mains, no fibre. Verified alarms over cellular.
SARA goes live on your real site for 14 days against KPIs agreed up front. If it delivers, we roll into a billing agreement; if not, you walk away.
