ABOUT THE ESTATE

Established in 2000, Estate d’Afrique is one of the most private developments on the Hartbeespoort Dam, built in a French Provençal style that recalls the small villages of the French coast: villas in earthy colours and indigenous rock, cascading water features, cobbled streets, boathouses and private jetties.

The estate’s 310 stands are laid out in three villages. Ville d’Afrique has 89 residential stands, Port Provence has 117 residential stands with 85 boathouses and a watercraft launch site, and Beau Rivage has 104 residential stands.

Mountain, wetland, grassland and river meet here, so the estate carries a wide range of fauna and flora: duikers, baboons, scrub hares and water monitors, and a resident caracal. Estate d’Afrique is a member of the Magaliesberg Biosphere, a UNESCO biosphere reserve of almost 358 000 hectares that is home to the Aloe peglerae and Frithia pulchra (the bobbejaanvingers succulent) and some 443 bird species, close to half of southern Africa’s total, with the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site nearby.
