our story

Made to order, nothing ready made

We are an interior decorating and upholstery studio, and we have been making curtains, blinds, upholstery and furniture to order since 1998. Nothing is ready made. Every piece is measured, cut and built for the room it is going into, and we come out to your premises to quote and to measure so that it fits properly the first time.

Our curtains run from pinch pleat to eyelets, French pleat to Parisian pleated, in every colour and style you can dream of, with 100 percent blockout lining available. We make blinds in aluminium, wood, venetian and roller, with motorised and automated options for offices and commercial spaces. On upholstery, a furniture frame often carries a lifetime guarantee, so changing the sponge and recovering it professionally leaves you with a piece that is as good as new. We also design and manufacture bespoke furniture and headboards, from classic buttoned styles to contemporary panelled designs, and we hang wallpaper and paint houses.

We work in private homes and on commercial projects alike, and we take on hotels, guest houses, lodges, offices and retirement villages from top to bottom. We were the decor and furnishings sponsor at The Waterfall Ellipse Hotel for Miss SA 2021. We have a workshop, so designers and decorators are welcome to contact us for help with their own projects, and we have a branch in Roodepoort.

Heidi founded Decor Gurus in 1998 on a simple belief, that every room deserves to feel extraordinary. From our factory we design and manufacture the highest quality custom curtains, blinds and furniture, all made to order.

Heidi is still personally involved in every major project, from the first consultation and the on site measurement through to the final installation. On average our team members have over twenty years of experience each, and we have worked everywhere from boutique hotels in Sandown to game lodges in Mpumalanga. We have experience in private homes, lodges, hotels and offices, our prices are competitive, and we would love to help you make your home beautiful.
