Wine On Route at Van Gaalen
About this event
Wine On Route is our annual wine hike along the Van Gaalen Trails: a 4km scenic trail walk along the Skeerpoort River and the Magalies River, with wine estates welcoming you roughly every 500 metres for tastings, cheese pairings and light snacks. A day filled with great fun, amazing wines (over 50 different wines) and mouthwatering food.
On arrival you receive a goodie bag with a wine glass, a day permit for the trails, water, a snack, a pen and some information on the wine. Registration opens at 09:00, and we release batches onto the trail every 15 minutes from 10:00 to 11:45 so the route never feels crowded. After the hike the bar and the Terrace Restaurant are open, with live music at the farm.
Tickets for the 2026 edition: general admission R400 per person, which covers entrance, wine tasting, the goodie bag and live music; seated tickets in the Terrace Restaurant R580 per person, with table seating, waiter service and a cheese and meat platter; children under 12 R25; children over 12 and non-drinking participants R50.
The 2026 edition ran on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August. Wine On Route takes place every August; the 2027 dates and tickets will be announced on vangaalen.co.za and on Computicket.
